Smile😊... I know you want to know what this post is all about but smile first😊. Don't you feel good when you smile? I mean, a bright and genuine smile! That's more like it! Your frowning hasn't solved anything so give me a bright smile! Yeahhhh.
This impromptu post came up because of the message I heard in Church today. I was immensely blessed and I just had to share with my audience.
The message so resonated with me because I went through just the same thing the previous week. I've been trusting God for something for about five months now and last week, I was at the verge of giving up; not just giving up on what I've been expecting but also giving up on God but guess what I did??
I channeled that frustration and anger to prayers. Instead of giving up, I prayed exactly the way I felt; maybe, just maybe God will see my frustration and answer me. Trust me, I almost shouted at God in anger because I had reached my wits end! I had to remember that He wasn't my mate and adjusted myself but I definitely did not pray the conventional way. I prayed exactly the way my heart bled.
Has God answered now? Maybe not yet. Am I entertaining thoughts of giving up? God forbid! Even if the thoughts come creeping in? I'd turn it to God in prayers!
While going through it, I also remember listening to a message on how to keep one's joy. I decided there and then that I was going to route my testimony through Joy! The Bible already tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength and since joy is not exactly the by-product of a physical thing, I'd just keep my joy till my testimony arrives!
(you might not understand what I mean by "routing it through joy" but if you can, try listening to a message by Pastor Lawrence Oyor on "Fullness of Joy" and also Dunsin Oyekan's song, " With Joy" and you'd better understand what I mean).
I didn't know what to call what I did until Pastor's message came today and the topic was “The Power of Self-Motivation." Apparently, what I did was motivate and encourage myself to keep going!
Just to encourage someone, I'd give a bullet list of my note and I pray the Lord will expound it in your heart; Amen!
Psalm 42, 2 Cor. 4:8-9, 1 Sam. 30:3-6, 1 Cor. 10:13, Prov. 13:12, 2 Cor. 11:23-28
My notes
- If Christ Jesus is the Way, one cannot be stranded or come to the end of the road.
- With God, there is a way.
- Motivation is what causes one to act either positively or negatively.
- Self-motivation is making conserved effort internally to move.
- Self-motivation is also the ability to do what needs to be done without external influence like David generated inner strength when he was going to be stoned after he and his men lost their families and properties (1 Sam. 30:3-6).
- If you do not take responsibility for your happiness, you will remain sorrowful for life.
- Give yourself reasons why you should be happy and alive!
- Stop celebrating problems and stop the pity party you organized for yourself (don't always let others be aware of your problems just so they can pity you).
- Doing number 8 makes the enemy rejoice and it makes him think he is winning.
- Find a worthy cause to remain alive.
- If Elijah had networked, he wouldn't have gone untimely (I've also heard severally that Elijah told God to take his life and his wish was honoured. When he asked God to take his life, God told him He had 7,000 other prophets who hadn't bowed to Baal. If Elijah had found them and walked with them, maybe we'd have heard more of him than we did but he moved solo).
- Generate happiness; rejoice always. (Phil. 4:4).
- Happiness is a function of event and circumstance.
- Joy is borne out of relationship; especially a relationship with God.
- If you find it difficult to rejoice, check your relationship with God.
- Always smile no matter what.
- Be rest assured God has a solution to your problems.

Thank you for this encouraging piece!📌💫
